Q. Can I enjoy healthy eating at your restaurants?

A. Absolutely! There’s no better place to put good nutrition knowledge into practice than at our buffets. Whether your focus is on eating more vegetables, salads and fruit, more protein or fewer carbohydrates, we have great choices for adults and children alike.

From fresh salad greens to piping hot vegetables, from savory baked chicken to carved salmon or roast beef, you can find delicious foods that work for your nutrition plan. And with our vast array of home-style favorites, you can enjoy a different meal every day.

Begin with reviewing the menu for nutrition information. We provide calorie, carbohydrate, protein, fat, fiber and other important nutrient information for a number of items so that you can make informed choices. Note that the menu is subject to change. Some items are served daily, while others rotate throughout the week.

At our buffets, we pride ourselves in presenting your home-style favorites so you can make the best choices for yourself! Click on the links provided for more information: Daily Menu | Nutrition Information on selected menu items

Q. How did you determine the nutrition content of foods on your menu?

A. In determining the nutrient content of our foods, we referred to FDA Food Labeling Guidelines and utilized a combination of nutrient databases and, in some cases, laboratory analyses. A registered dietitian skilled in restaurant nutrition headed up this effort, and our own quality regulatory staff reviewed it for accuracy before publishing it. Our serving sizes reflect typical servings at our buffet restaurants. Nutrition information for a "piece" of cake, a "spoon" of vegetables or potatoes, a "ladle" of soup, etc. is listed. Your individual self-serve portion may be larger or smaller than what is listed.

Q. I'm on a special diet. What can I eat at your buffets?

A. Please see our recommendations for a number of common diets by clicking here. We recommend that you consult with your health care provider before starting any new diet.

Q. Do you offer reduced-sugar or sugar-free desserts?

A. Yes. We offer a choice of the following:

  • Nonfat, Sweetened-with-NutraSweet® Frozen Vanilla Yogurt
  • Reduced-Sugar/Calorie Chocolate Pudding
  • Reduced-Sugar/Calorie Vanilla Pudding
  • Reduced-Sugar Pies (assorted flavors)
  • Sugar-Free Ranger Cookies (freshly baked)

Sometimes our guests may become confused with the "reduced-sugar" label instead of a "sugar-free" label. According to federal regulations for labeling, we cannot refer to items as "sugar-free" if they are made with milk because milk contains lactose, a sugar found naturally in milk.

Q. I have diabetes. What can I eat at your buffets?

A. Diabetes experts say that the best food plan for someone with diabetes is similar to a healthy food plan for just about anyone. Making good food choices is the key! For your individualized food plan, consult with your physician who can recommend a registered dietitian. A registered dietitian will work with you in developing a food plan that works for your lifestyle. Typically, food plans include a serving of:

  • Meat or fish
  • Potato or rice
  • Vegetables
  • Fruit or approved dessert

Food plans for people with diabetes now focus on counting carbohydrate choices. At our buffets, we make it even easier to implement your plan by providing the carbohydrate content of many of our foods. You can plan your meal ahead of time, or bring your food plan with you to our restaurants. Then help yourself to the myriad of great choices from leafy salad greens to fresh fruits, to lean meats, fish and beans, to rice pilaf or potatoes, to savory steamed vegetables and desserts made without added sugar. So many choices to enjoy!

Q. I have food allergies. What should I eat at your buffets?

A. We understand how important it is to know what you are eating when dealing with a food allergy. Given our many made-from-scratch foods, various ingredient suppliers, regional recipes and special promotion menus, the challenge of providing detailed information regarding allergies is extremely difficult. Our chefs are responsible for preparing a delicious array of food offerings which regularly utilize ingredients that can contain some of the more common allergens such as peanuts, shellfish and gluten-containing items. Consequently, we regret that we currently do not have specific allergen information available on our website. We recommend checking with your health care provider or the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (www.foodallergy.org) for information regarding your individual needs.

Q. I am on a restricted diet that only allows me to eat very small portions. Can you offer a discount?

A. This question arises occasionally, including from guests that have recently had surgery. It is important to understand that our pricing is based on a reasonably sized "meal," not a specific "quantity of food" or an "unlimited" amount. Individual guests have widely differing perspectives on what they feel is an appropriate meal size. We serve more than 150 million guests per year and each one has unique menu expectations and health requirements. For simplicity sake, we adopted a uniform pricing approach when the company was formed over 20 years ago and this has become a hallmark of our business.

Q. What are your prices?

A. Our prices vary from city to city, and from breakfast to lunch to dinner. Please check with the restaurant you are planning to visit if you wish to get exact adult, children, and senior prices. It's important to remember that we have an advantage over other buffet restaurants as our price typically covers everything — the entire meal as well as all of your beverage and dessert selections*. (Note that in limited markets pricing practices may differ, and the company may offer specialty alternatives for an additional fee.)

Q. Do you offer special pricing for senior citizens?

A. Senior Club Cards are available to anyone 60 or above for only $1. The cards are good for the calendar year. When presented to the cashier, the card entitles the owner to the Senior Club Card discount. It is approximately 50 cents to 70 cents less than the regular adult price. Everyone who purchases a Senior Club Card will also be entered in the weekly drawing for a free meal.

Q. Do you accept gratuity at your restaurants?

A. Gratuities are not required, but sincerely appreciated by our service staff.

Q. What hours are you open?

A. Please check with your local Old Country Buffet®, Country Buffet®, or HomeTown Buffet® for their specific hours of operation as hours do vary from location to location. Generally, our restaurants are open:

Mon-Thurs 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Friday 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday 8 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

All of our restaurants now serve breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday, so in those cases the restaurants would open at about 11:00 a.m. for lunch. Most of our restaurants also employ special summer or winter hours. It is always best to call the restaurant to verify its hours of operation, especially if you are planning to visit at the start or end of these estimated hours of operation.

Q. Can your restaurants accommodate large groups?

A. All of our restaurants are able to accommodate large groups. Please check directly with the restaurant for availability and seating capacity.
